SAFETY ISSUES

I have been appointed honorary Health & Safety officer for the BDS North East Wales and I will always ensure that any Area events are risked assessed and it is my duty to inform the Area Commissioner what should be done to ensure every event is run smoothly.

RISK ASSESSING: 
This is a common sense task to prevent any foreseen incidents, not a paper writing exercise for the file, without putting preventive measures into place.  A risk assessment is identifying the magnitude of the risk if one exists.

INSURANCE
All Area events run under the auspice of the BDS North East Wales are covered by the Area's Events insurance.

AT THE RECENT AREA COMMISSIONERS A.G.M APRIL 19TH 2008 IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT NO CLUB OR GROUP WHO AFFILIATE TO THE BDS ARE COVERED BY THE BDS AREA'S EVENTS INSURANCE AND THEY MUST TAKE OUT THEIR OWN LIABILITY INSURANCE.

The BDS North East Wales can run and organise joint events with other bodies / groups but those other bodies / groups cannot claim that they are covered by the BDS Events Insurance and MUST have their own current Events Insurance cover as appropriate for any joint event with this Area or any Area of the BDS.
